(02-09-2024) The first Peruvian Congress of Geology took place in 1994, driven by a generation of professionals committed to the importance of geology in societal development. During the launch of the 22nd edition, Bedric Mori, President of the Geological Society of Peru (SGP), emphasized this continuity. The event has since evolved into the most significant gathering for earth science professionals in the region, attracting not only geologists but also related professionals, business leaders, and authorities from various economic sectors.

Under the theme “100 Years Contributing to the Development of Geosciences and the Economy,” the XXII Peruvian Congress of Geology, scheduled for December 4-6, is expected to set a new milestone. This is due not only to the technical expertise of the speakers and the topics but also to the wide array of activities, such as the Business GeoExpo. This 30-minute session will allow geological professionals, companies, and independent consultants to share their research, experiences, and innovative solutions, fostering mutual learning and keeping up with the latest technological advances.

Dr. Mirian Mamani, President of the Organizing Committee, noted, “Sometimes, we geologists don’t realize how important our work is and how much it influences sustainable economic development. That’s why it was essential to highlight the significance of geosciences in the economy.”
