(04-06-2025) The National University of Engineering (UNI), through the Faculty of Geological, Mining, and Metallurgical Engineering (FIGMM), announced the upcoming VI International Symposium on Mining Technological Innovations – SIITMIN UNI 2025, which will take place from August 4 to 6, 2025, at the facilities of the Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru, in Lima.
This academic event, officially recognized by UNI through Rectoral Resolution N° 1381-2025, represents a strategic meeting space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among key players in Peruvian and international mining. Its purpose is to strengthen the link between industry, academia, and applied research.
Over the course of three days, the VI SIITMIN UNI 2025 will offer keynote speeches, technical discussion panels, and thematic sessions addressing the main challenges and opportunities of modern mining. Key topics will include: automation and digitalization of mining operations, technologies applied to safety and comprehensive risk management, innovative solutions for environmental efficiency, and advances in exploration, processing, and mining data management.
The organization of this sixth edition is led by the 25-1 “Eng. Alberto Benavides de la Quintana” cohort, composed of final-year Mining Engineering students from UNI, in tribute to one of the most renowned figures in Peruvian mining. This cohort is sponsored by Eng. Raúl Benavides, a prominent executive in the sector and a benchmark for responsible mining, whose career has inspired generations of young professionals.
