(22-04-2025) On April 22, Mr. Edwin Colque Calisaya, Senior Operations Manager, and reportedly Domingo Vega, a Maintenance Department worker—according to a local newspaper—passed away at the Yanacancha camp operations site in Huari, Áncash, while carrying out their duties for Compañía Minera Antamina.
The incident occurred due to a collision between the pickup truck they were traveling in and a dump truck. Yorhinio León Robles, Superintendent of Drilling and Blasting, was injured.
“As is appropriate in these situations, we have contacted the families of the colleagues involved to provide the necessary support during this difficult time, and we are coordinating with the relevant authorities. A total safety shutdown has also been implemented and we have initiated an investigation into the incident,” the company stated in a press release, adding that “this is an extremely sad moment at Antamina; we appreciate the expressions of solidarity and respect we have been receiving in light of what happened.”
