Southern Copper Corp. (NYSE: SCCO), Phoenix, copper multi-national with mines in Peru and Mexico, informed that it plans to complete the expansion project of its mine Toquepala (Tacna) next June, which includes a new concentration plant.

It detailed that the US$1.2 billion project will increase the yearly copper production of the mining unit in 100,000 tons to reach 245,000 tons next year.

In the fourth quarter of the year, the company also expects to complete the project to increase the height of the dam at Quebrada Honda, which will allow the storage of tailings from Toquepala and Cuajone.
