Labor creditors of Doe Run Peru in liquidation said that they plan to acquire the La Oroya Metallurgical Complex (CMLO), if the last of three auctions fails, which will conclude next April 9th.
“The workers will purchase La Oroya; that is defined. They owe us 120 million dollars, we are creditors of La Oroya. We are also looking at the Cobriza mine”, said Luis Castillo, leader of the mining-metallurgical workers union.
Pablo Peschiera, representative of the bankruptcy administrator Dirige, confirmed this intention and detailed that the possibility will open if the bids are declared void until the end of August.
